Lessons Learned

Hello Everyone!
It is Friday! Something I would like to implement in my blog is on Friday's looking back on the week and thinking of one valuable lesson learned from the week. So many times in life we get so caught up in busyness that we don't stop and reflect on life lessons and how we can grow from them. This week for me was challenging, as stated in my last blog, due to the remembrance of my cousin's death and not being able to be in New Mexico to be with my family was rather difficult. I am terribly close to my family and being apart is tough much less being apart in a very stressing situation. However, the big lesson I learned this week, is that no matter how hard a situation is God's grace is sufficient. The scripture that came to mind this week was 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." It is comforting to know that no matter what arises in life, that we can have hope and peace in Christ.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Special Music Monday

Happy Monday Everyone,
This is a very special Music Monday. This is definitely one of those times in life when a sad song describes a heartbreaking moment. Over a year ago my cousin was tragically killed in car accident and this week is the trial of the man that hit her car. It would have been her 36th birthday on Wednesday. You never think that something so tragic could happen to someone so close to you until it does and shakes your world and everyone close to her as well. At the time she was acting as my wedding planner and three months before my wedding I got that awful call saying she had been killed in a car accident. So many questions arise in your mind of why something so bad would take place to someone so special, she left 3 beautiful children behind. All I know is that God's peace is what sustains us and is able to keep us moving forward. I ask this week that you keep my family in your prayers as the trial continues and pray that justice will come. Today I dedicate this song to her. My cousins sang it at her funeral and will forever remind me of her.

Kim, I love you and you will forever be in our hearts! We miss you!

Love Is In the Air/Music Monday

Hello,
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! This weekend for me was full of love. My brother-in-law and now sister-in-law got married on Friday, as well as one of my good friends from college on Saturday. I was unable to make my friend Stephanie’s wedding because of the distance but I am so excited for her and it breaks my heart I couldn't be there. Marriage is defiantly a beautiful thing, the opportunity to be with the one you love and make that covenant before each other and your family and friends is priceless! It is a beautiful thing when God brings two people together and they live to serve Him and then each other. Love is truly a sacrifice but an amazing one at that. The song of choice would of course be entitled “I Do” in the spirit of this wedding season!

Hope you enjoy!! I know I am new at this blogging thing but I am trying to think of new and creative aspects to write about, if you have any suggestions please let me know :)

God Bless,

1 Year Anniverary

I cannot believe it, it is already Wednesday, time is surely escaping me. I wanted to share about the amazing weekend I had that my husband planned for us on our anniversary! He surprised me by taking me the Stoneleigh hotel in Dallas. It was an amazing and romantic experience! The Stoneleigh has been around since the 1920s and has a nice twist of a classic and modern theme. We ate at the hotel’s restaurant Bollo, it had to have been the best food we have ever tasted! We then listened to some jazz music in the lounge Noir featuring Clate Bowen. After some amazing music, we were able to enjoy a relaxing evening in our pleasant hotel room. The next day we had a delicious breakfast at the hotel, as well, we went shopping and of course, we had to try out the new In-and-Out burger! Then on our actually anniversary we enjoyed the traditional wedding cake (even though the cake we ate was not our real wedding cake) it was still amazing and then just was able to relax together! It was a wonderful weekend! I am so grateful to my husband for making this weekend memorable and special! Then to top it off my best friend had her baby!!! She lives in Arizona so I could not be there for his birth but I am so excited for her and cannot wait to meet him!
Hope your having a blessed week!!!

Wedding Music Monday

Happy Monday Everyone!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! My weekend was amazing as my Husband and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary! I will certainly post pictures and explain the fun we had. Over the weekend, my husband and I reminisced of our wedding and all the good memories we have! I am so blessed to be married to the man of my dreams. God has truly blessed me and I am so grateful for him! One thing that I have learned over this first year of marriage is that it is a composition with its high and low notes but it is how you handle those changes that matters. I am so thankful that I have a man that guides and leads our marriage to first seek God above everything else. The song of choice today is the song that my Husband and I danced to our wedding. This song he dedicated to me while we were dating and we felt it very appropriate for it to be our wedding song.

I though I would share some of my favorite wedding pictures!
Hope you enjoyed the song and pictures! If you have any awesome wedding stories or pictures please share!

Much Love,

Melody D. Holmes
