2012 has left us and now onto 2013! 2012 was a blessed year, with all its ups and downs, it was a year of growth. It was a year that God stretched me, grew me and taught me to trust Him. I am looking forward to this upcoming year and all that it holds.
In 2012, this blog was pretty non-existent. Yesterday, on the drive back from New Mexico to Texas, I was expressing to my husband that either I needed to delete it or pursue it. I could not just leave it neglected anymore. Deep down I enjoy the blogging world and want to continue to make something of this little blog. For too long I have let my insecurities of my writing skills, my poor grammar, not having a nice camera to take perfect pictures, to not blog at all. I figured the only way to get better is to practice! Daily, I am inspired by awesome bloggers out there and one day would love to inspire someone else. For now, my goal is to write one post a week and take it from there. One step at a time.
Here is to a New Year with New Possibilities!

From the Heart
The season of fall is finally among us. I love fall, it is so refreshing from the blistering heat of Texas summers. With fall comes change, the changing colors of the leaves, to the crispy smell in the air, gentle rainfalls, pumpkin spice latte's.....sigh, it is a beautiful thing folks. Even in life change can be a refreshing thing, is it not always easy, but when you trust in God change is sign that a new season is right around the corner with so many promises...

My Health and Fitness Journey
Growing up I never had to worry about what I ate. I was actually
probably too skinny but I never knew any different. I seriously could eat
whatever I wanted and it would not stick; sigh... memories. I was also very active;
I played sports in middle school and was a cheerleader in high school. But once I got to college, I noticed that my body was starting to change, I was
turning into a woman (I did not mind that part). However, when I hit my junior year, my
schedule started to pick up, and I did not work out as much. The pounds slowly
started to creep on and before you knew it my clothes started not to fit and
not because I was getting taller! I knew I had to get on a regular
exercise plan. However, the one thing that I really did not change was my
eating habits. My senior year I got engaged and was determined to lose some
weight for my wedding and did a fairly good job. I was satisfied with my weight
on my wedding day but wanted to continue to work on toning. Obviously, on our honeymoon,
the sky was the limit and we ate whatever we wanted...what a dream. However,
once we got settled into our home and life, that mentality stayed with us! I can
honestly say I gained about 10 pounds my first year of marriage!! Late night
pizza orders, random ice cream runs, it was bad folks. The husband gained
probably half what I gained!! I would exercise here and there, mostly doing
zumba. When we celebrated our 1 year anniversary and I saw the pictures
afterwards I was sickened by the weight I had gained. In other people’s eyes
they might have said you did not look bad, but knowing what I use to look like
I was not happy.
It was then that I determined to work out regularly and started to sort of watch what I was eating. I
did work out regularly 4-5 times a week and got serious about it. I then started
training for a half marathon. To my disappointment, I still was not
seeing a huge change in my weight. I was gaining muscle but the main problem,
my stomach pouch, was not leaving. It was not until I got a stomach ulcer and
really had to watch what I was eating that I noticed a weight loss. I finished
my half marathon, was pleased to have lost about 7 pounds, and was looking
good. After my half marathon, life really picked up again and I was very inconsistent
with working out and not watching too well what I was eating and gained most of
the weight back. I was determined that our eating habits had to start changing.
All the research I had done was saying that 70-80% of losing weight was what
you ate and the rest was exercise. I started looking into clean eating. I did
not want to get on a diet but wanted to make it a lifestyle. Since my husband
and I are in ministry and our lives can get busy we eat out a lot! So we were
doing great at home but terrible when we ate out. I then started a 6 week boot
camp and still did not lose weight! Ok yes I gained muscle and was getting more
toned but again my stomach pouch was not going anywhere! I wrote down
everything I ate for a month and to my amazement was quiet disappointment of
what bad foods I was still sneaking in, again eating out got
me every time!
I am determined to
lose the extra weight and get in the best shape of my life! I know in a couple
of years I want to have children and life will only get busier. I want to make
it a habit in mine and my husbands life to live healthy, eat right and
exercise. So I say all this to say that I am started a new journey, a jump-start you
can say in learning how to eat healthy. I joined this program and I will share
more about it later, and I know it is what I need right now to lose the extra
weight and start from scratch. I have a life coach that will be assisting me in
which I am thrilled because I do better with accountability. I am beyond
excited for this new journey. In faith, a month from now I will be posting a
before and after picture :) So far 5 pounds down, 10 to go!

From the Heart
In life there are always seasons. Right now I am trying to wait patiently for fall. However, living in Texas fall does not seem anywhere in sight, as right now it is 97 degrees outside! In life right now, I feel like fall is not the only thing I am waiting for. One thing I am learning is that while waiting, one must be content. Way easier said than done. Ah the art of being content... wish that was an easy lesson to learn. In this waiting game of wanting answers, I remind myself that no matter what God is directing my life, and my future. I have to remind myself I am not waiting in vain but trusting that God has me right where He wants me in this season...

2 Years!!
It has been Two Years since I married the man of dreams!! Marriage has been a wonderful thing!! The husband continues to blow my mind of how truly amazing he is! Life is always full of adventures but knowing I have him next to me makes all the difference in the world. As I thought back on the past two years, I can honestly say putting God first in our marriage is what has made it successful. I am beyond blessed to serve a faithful God and thankful He has blessed me with an incredible husband!
Here is a short time line through pictures of how our relationship started and has progressed through the years :) It is quite an amazing story, one day I will have to write it out in detail :)

It was Gossip Girl Themed and I honestly have never watched the show but I sure enjoyed what was inside the box!

Have a great weekend!!
I am Back!!
It has been too long!! When I started this blog my goal was
not to let it die!! Lately, I have failed miserable! I have my excuses of how
busy I have been and I kept telling myself I would write tomorrow or the next
day. I kept pondering up ideas of what to write about but time seemed to escape
me. Life has finally slowed down and I really want to take the time to keep
this little ol blog alive. I am not sure if anyone even reads my little blog
but I did not create the blog to see how popular it would get. I created it to expand my
comfort zone, to practice the art of writing even though I am terrible at it.
(You only get better with practice, right?) And maybe along the way encourage a
person or two, share some awesome finds, and meet some new friends!
I hope whomever you are, and wherever you are that you are
having a wonderful Friday!! And thank you for reading my blog :)
