Organization

It is the beginning of a new year and I feel that it is very important to organize every area in my life. There are plenty of areas that I need to organize but today I wanted to focus on the organization of my home, it is not very big so I felt that it was a task that could be accomplished by the end of January. Well January will be over in about a week, and I haven't even started, eekk!! So today I made a list of things I need to organize in my home and then looked up ideas of how to organize specific areas.
My List
Ideas
For the Kitchen
 For the closet
 For my Jewelry
                                 For the office/guestroom/craft room
 For the Bathroom
 Under the sink

Believe me, these are only a few of the many pictures I have found. FYI most of all these pictures came from Better Homes & Garden weekly newsletter, in which I love!!
I hope to get all this organization done asap!

Have a happy Thursday!

Getting Crafty

I have never thought of myself as a crafty person but always had the desire to learn how to be. One day I made up in my mind that I was going to learn and pursue this desire.:) And then thanks to Pinterest I have had plenty of inspiration! My first goal in the journey of being crafty was to make at least one of my Christmas presents this past year. I saw a picture of some monogram pillows and wanted to make them for my brother and sister-in-law because they recenlty got married! I was so nervous but thanks to my wonderful friend, it was a success!

Seriously, my friend Amanda pretty much had to tell me exactly what to do because I had never done something like this before. She should really have a blog of her own, she is so crafty and awesome at home decor!

With the making of pillows you can either buy stuffing or you can buy cheap pillows and use them as the insert, which we did in this case.
We first measured the material according to the size of the pillows.
I had previously made a stencil that I printed off from a Word document and then cut out with an exacto knife.
I got black paint and gently dabbed the stencil onto the material. (I put paper in between the material to prevent any bleed through on the back.)
I did the same on three pillows, 2 B's for the first letter of their first name and then a &.
I let the paint dry and the pulled the material inside out and we sewed the sides with the sewing machine.
We then stuffed the material with the pillow previously bought and sewed the bottom of the pillow by hand.
Here they are :) I am so proud of them!
I was working on another project that I will share soon and had extra material so I went ahead and made me a pillow. I did this one backwards, we sewed and stuffed the material first and then I painted on the monogram, which worked fine.

I really enjoyed making these pillows. It was very therapeutic and relaxing. I want to continue to grow in my knowledge of crafts, it really is fun and you can save a lot of money!
Hope you enjoyed the first experience!!

Got to Have Some Fun

Happy Monday Everyone,

Do you ever get so busy and just forget to have some fun in life? With trying to get back to normal and catching up on life, I was getting a little stressed out. We then had a busy but eventful weekend with a connection group training at our church. I was so proud of the husband he did a great job putting it together. However, since I am not 100% yet I was seriously so worn out by Sunday. Then my awesome husband took me out to lunch on Sunday just us two and we went to one of our favorite frozen yogurt places Merry Toppins for dessert. We just enjoyed each other and chilled for a moment, it was very refreshing! Even amongst the busyness of life, it is always great just to take a moment and breath and laugh :) I really cannot believe I am posting these pictures from our mini date because they are embarrassing but they are fun :)
We are sporting our awesome connection group shirts and my first time to wear a beret :) Fun stuff!
Well I hope that in this crazy, busy life you with take time to laugh and enjoy life!

Much Love,

Melody

First Adventure of 2012

Aw the adventures that life brings us. Last week was both the husbands and I birthday week and in my previous posts, I had mentioned I was not feeling too well with food poising or a stomach bug. Little did I know what was really going on. No, I am not pregnant, as I have been asked plenty of times lol. On the poor husbands birthday I was in so much pain that he took me to the ER, he is so amazing, he did not even care that it was his birthday. The ER thought it was my gallbladder, so then the next day we meet with a surgeon to set up appointment to get my gallbladder out but then to our surprise, the doctor thought I had an ulcer so than we got a sonogram done and my gallbladder was fine. Therefore, the doctor put me on medication for an ulcer but it took a good week for the medication to kick and finally start working. So needless to say, I spent the whole week and my birthday in bed. Thank the Lord I started to feel better this weekend and finally getting back to normal. With the ulcer I have to be very mindful what I eat, so no spicy food for me for a while :(
Even though I was out and sick I felt really blessed for so many reasons. First off, because I have a wonderful husband who took so well care of me. Then also for amazing family and friends that were praying for me and checking up on me. I am truly grateful for the people in my life! However, most importantly, I am grateful for a God that is continuing to do a healing work in my body; it is so reassuring to have a Savior that heals!!
Time has surely escaped me and it’s already Wednesday! Sad to say I started this blog on Monday lol. I did not realize how tired I would be just getting back into my normal routine. Any who life is good! I am still so very excited about what this year is going to bring! There are already a couple of awesome things coming up that I will share later ;)
Have a blessed day!!

Happy New Year!

Aw it feels good to be back! The husband and I have been out of town for a whole week visiting family and having a wonderful time! I have plenty to write about in the upcoming weeks of our many adventures. Now we are back in good ol' Texas and how fitting to be back by the New Year. I pray you all had a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year! Even though I had a terrific holiday season, sadly I spent my New Year's sick with food poisoning or some kind of stomach bug. Thankfully I am starting to feel better and ready to get this New Year started :)

If I had to describe 2011 in two words I would definitely say it was a year of growing and stretching. A year that was filled with many lessons learned. Of all the twenty-three years I have lived, this past year was one that I felt I did a lot of "growing up". I have plenty of growing up to do still. There were no huge factors that changed in our lives, just plenty of lessons to grow from. I am thankful to God for blessing us with so much this year and more importantly growing us in Him. I am one that is always hesitant to be excited of the future because I do not know what it holds. Thankfully I know who holds the future and because of that I am truly excited about this year! Above and Beyond in 2012! I know God is going to do some amazing things and I sincerely just want to be a vessel that He works through.
Anyways, I have plenty of goals I would love to accomplish this year but I feel I still have plenty of praying and contemplating on such things before I post them for the whole world to see ;)

Have a wonderful and blessed year!!!
